Off The Record: Branding & Social Media

Off The Record branding project storefront design, branding in action

Stepping into a record shop feels like entering a whole new world. There's so much to look at, all organized but still visually chaotic in some way. I loved the idea or celebrating a local shop with a bold brand.

The Brief Club’s 52nd creative brief challenged designers to come up with unique designs for Off The Record, a fictional music store. I decided to round off some simple typography with the recognizable shape of a vinyl record. The color palette calms the brand down while still giving us plenty of options to play with. Overall, this brand looks like it might not be from 2022, which is a great look for a music shop that sells old classics and rare secondhand collectibles.

I decided to give logo animations a spin (get it?) for our fictional music shop, Off The Record. Using motion this way adds to the story the logo is telling, making a great detail in videos and digital content.

After Effects is a whole new software for me to conquer, but I sure do love looking at this logo move.

Imagining all the ways this music store could interact with its community was the best part of this challenge! There's so much to share about music and a thriving music store should be leading the conversation.

These social media posts show the branding in action and give the brand credibility online. These social media designs could be used as inspiration for a variety of content, serving as a jumping-off point for the client or an in-house designer.
