BUBBL: Branding & Collateral

The Brief Club posts simple creative briefs to see different designers’ takes on the same situation. Brief #49 was for BUBBL, a boba tea shop in need of a logo and packaging. This was my first time participating in a challenge like this, and I wanted to stand out with something no one else could come up with.

Your first idea is probably everyone else's too, but your second and third ideas are bound to be unique.

My third idea for Bubbl's branding was a rubber hose style mascot inspired by Fish Out of Water from Chicken Little. Kinda wild, but I was happy to be reminded of the character's bubbling sound effects and unique personality. And rubber hose is a 2022 design trend anyway, right?

This illustration took a while to get right. Rubber hose isn't something I've done before and expressive fish mouths present their own challenge. I'm pretty obsessed with how it turned out - especially some of the lovable rejects I created along the way.

I don't know about you guys, but I always order the same boba tea every time. What if my local tea shop encouraged me to try new things?

Inspired by our fish-out-of-water mascot, I decided Bubbl will be the brand to nudge you out of your comfort zone. Rewards members will be part of the Flavor Adventure Club, where they can explore new tastes with limited-time teas and incentives for switching up their order. An ongoing campaign like this would drive hype and get people talking about the brand! Plus, it makes for some cute graphics.

I finished off this project with some print collateral. The rewards card is a system we all know and love, encouraging regular visits to earn a free drink. This one also promotes further exploration by asking visitors to download an app for further rewards.

The menu features an enticing photo on the cover, information about how an order works, and long lists of options to choose from. Even though this menu has a lot going on, it keeps everything organized with hierarchy and clear pricing.
